The IP PBX Can Do More Than Telephone

The continued growth of SIP-enabled devices beyond the SIP phone and SIP trunks opens up a whole range of possibilities. There are SIP enabled: Surveillance security cameras Access control devices such as badge readers and door controls Paging devices Gary Audin and Mario Cuello, CEO of Epygi, meeting at ITExpo Miami discuss in this podcast the traditional IP PBX and how it can also be the centralized system for a range of SIP-enabled devices. These devices go beyond what telephony personnel usually support. Since IT often manages telephony, IT can expand its functionality to non-telephony applications. The fact that the IP PBX can support these other devices eliminates the need for separate systems to manage them, a definite cost reduction. Epygi, through its reseller and customer feedback programs, has found that adding broader functionality to the IP PBX enhances the investment in the IP PBX and helps extend it lifetime value to the SMB.
